Faith Float debuts at Rondo

On July 19th, our Faith Float made a successful debut in the Rondo Days parade. Thanks to all who participated, especially Dick Buggs for organizing and providing the energy, Ted Lentz for moving the idea forward and securing a truck, Rev. Carl Walker and Marilyn Campbell for leading our singing, and to all the people who sang throughout the parade.

Following our most successful weekend with the Shades of Praise, representatives of our churches met to consider next steps. Listed below are a few of the ideas that people suggested. These and others are under consideration for follow-up action.

Have ministers share/swap pulpits with each other
Form an inter-church, inter-faith St. Paul choir
Hold pancake breakfasts sponsored by 2 or more churches
Develop a faith float for Rondo Days or Grand Ol Days
Organize a multi-church rehab trip to New Orleans
Faith exchange days in which we attend each others' churches
All-church bowling night
Circle suppers involving members from different churches
Inter-church discussion groups on spirituality and theology

The concept of the beloved community is the driving force behind Raising Our Voices. Yet this phrase can mean many different things. To Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. it meant:

...a society of opportunity, compassion, and justice

rooted in our shared daily experiences.
